In a heartbreaking turn of events, reported by guyana daily news an autopsy conducted on the remains of an 11-year-old boy, who died mere hours after an altercation with a 14-year-old, unveiled the grim details of the cause of death. The examination revealed that the young boy, identified as Harrypaul from Lot four (4) Vigilance North, East Coast Demerara (ECD), succumbed to a fractured skull and blunt force trauma to the head.
The tragic incident occurred on Monday at the Strathspey Primary School, between 14:30 and 15:00 hours. The victim, Harrypaul, reportedly chased a 14-year-old boy, a student of Buxton Secondary School, who had pulled away his rag. In a horrifying turn of events, the older boy pulled in the school gate, which struck Harrypaul on the left side of his head, resulting in a severe injury.
Despite the apparent severity of the incident, the school’s Head Mistress (HM) contacted Mark’s mother and informed her about the altercation. Astonishingly, Mark was sent home alone. Upon reaching home, he complained of a headache, for which he was given a painkiller. Later that evening, his mother found him unresponsive and in a seizure. Rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, the 11-year-old tragically passed away within an hour.
The parents of the deceased, Roy Harrypaul and Vanie Singh, expressed their grief in an interview with Guyana Daily News. Describing their child as a good big brother with big dreams, they shared that he was eagerly anticipating the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) and had promised them stellar performance to secure a top school on the East Coast of Demerara.
Seeking justice for their son, the grieving parents urged authorities to implement measures to safeguard school children across Guyana. An ongoing investigation aims to uncover the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
