Successful Completion Of Cid Induction Course 1/2023

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) celebrated the successful conclusion of its first induction course for 2023. Over 50 police officers and ranks participated in the six-week program, which began on October 9, 2023, and concluded on November 28, 2023, at the Officers’ Training Center in Eve Leary, Georgetown.

The comprehensive course aimed to enhance the investigative skills of the participants, equipping them with the knowledge and procedures necessary for effective criminal investigations. It focused on orienting the inductees to their roles as investigators, covering various topics related to criminal investigation procedures, identification of criminal offenses, crime scene analysis, and investigative responses.

Throughout the course, the participants delved into 34 specified topics, including ethics in law enforcement, elements of offenses, note-taking, statement taking and writing, interview techniques, sexual offenses investigations, cybercrime investigations, fraud and financial crime, evidence procedure, crime scene management, and much more.

The dedication and diligence of the ranks were acknowledged during the ceremony. Constable Leroy Williams emerged as the best student, achieving an impressive score of 86.75%. Woman Special Constable Kathy Martin secured the second position with 81%, and Woman Constable Crystal Walters Anderson attained a notable score of 75.75%.

Deputy Crime Chief Karl Wilson delivered a feature address during the closing ceremony, emphasizing the importance of qualities such as honesty, integrity, commitment, respect for the rights of others, and tolerance for investigators. He urged them to maintain professionalism and uphold these values in their roles.

Attending the closing ceremony were Deputy Crime Chief Superintendent Karl Wilson, Superintendent Caesar, ASP Stephen, and other distinguished guests. The event marked a significant achievement for the participants and highlighted their commitment to the aims and objectives of the course.
