Four Individuals Apprehended During Narcotics Operation in Yarrowkabara Backdam

In an intelligence-led operation conducted between 04:00hrs and 11:30hrs this morning, the Guyana Police Force, led by an Assistant Superintendent from Special Branch and comprising several ranks from Regional Division 4B, achieved a significant breakthrough in combating illegal narcotics cultivation in the Yarrowkabara backdam off the Soesdyke/Linden Highway.

Eight well-cultivated fields of Cannabis Sativa (Marijuana) plants, ranging from two to three feet in height, were discovered during the operation.
Each field measured one hundred by two hundred (100×200) square feet, accompanied by eight camps.

Four individuals were apprehended during the operation:

Fayon Reeves, 25 years old, Farmer of Circuit Road, Timehri
Kishore Ram, 35 years old, Labourer of Cummings Lodge
Munesh Ram, 29 years old, Labourer of Cummings Lodge
Miguel Gomes, 21 years old, Painter of Hyde Park, Timehri

Miguel Gomes was found in a camp and led the police to the field where he was actively cultivating narcotics. The camp and all discovered narcotics were subsequently destroyed.

A nursery containing approximately one thousand seedlings was found and also destroyed.

Dried Cannabis was found in the camps where the other three suspects were arrested.

The Cannabis found with Fayon Reeves, Kishore Ram, and Munesh Ram was weighed, amounting to 1700 grams. The total plants discovered amounted to approximately five thousand plants.

All four suspects have been arrested and are in police custody pending charges. The plants and other evidence collected during the operation will be used as exhibits in the ongoing investigation.

The Guyana Police Force remains committed to eradicating illegal narcotics activities and appreciates the cooperation of the public in reporting suspicious activities. Further updates on this case will be provided as the investigation progresses.
