Construction Worker Arrested on Drug and Weapons Charges

Christopher Durjan, a 39-year-old construction worker residing at Lot 10 First Street, Better Hope, East Coast Demerara, was apprehended by a Vigilance Police Station officer last week.

He has been charged with multiple offenses, including: Possession of Narcotics for the Purpose of Trafficking, as outlined in Section 5(1)(a)(i) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Control Act, Chapter 10/10, involving 2338 grams of illicit substances. Possession of Ammunition, in violation of Section 16(2)(a) of the Firearms Act, Chapter 16:05. Possession of a Firearm, contrary to Section 16(2)(a) of the Firearms Act, Chapter 16:05.

Durjan appeared before Magistrate Abigail Gibbs at Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court #2, where the charges were formally presented. Despite pleading not guilty, he was remanded to prison until April 3, 2024.
