The Linden Hospital Complex reports a successful surgery on the five-year-old child who had a warhead lodged in her throat. The operation, conducted yesterday afternoon, resulted in the safe removal of the warhead. The child remains in stable condition and continues to receive medical care at the hospital.
The warhead, meticulously documented with photographs, markings, and seals, has been handed over to the Police. The next step involves the escort of the warhead to the Guyana Police Force’s Ballistics Section for thorough analysis.
In a significant development, the Linden Police Division apprehended the suspect, identified as Shemar Ceasar, alias ‘Mama,’ a 24-year-old taxi driver of Half Mile, Wismar, Linden. The arrest took place at the Mackenzie bridge around 17:15hrs yesterday.
Upon his apprehension, a search of the suspect’s apartment was conducted in his presence, yielding no items of evidential value. The suspect was then taken to the Mackenzie Police Station, where detectives swabbed his hands for gunpowder residue.
During a video and audio interview conducted between 19:09hrs and 19:30hrs yesterday evening, the suspect, after being informed of his rights, responded to the allegation against him. He claimed, “Officer, is me friend (name withheld) bring de gun and gee me fu keep last night, and I try to teck out de magazine and de weapon go off.” The entire interview was recorded for evidentiary purposes.
When questioned about the whereabouts of the weapon, the suspect stated that he returned it to his friend at the Four Corner. Efforts are currently underway to locate and contact this individual.
