Teen Charged with Larceny in Dwelling House, Case Dismissed in Court

Kwami Browne, an 18-year-old unemployed resident of South Haslington, East Coast Demerara, was arrested on Wednesday and subsequently charged with the offence of ‘Larceny in a Dwelling House,’ contrary to Section 187 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act Chapter 08:01.

The charges stemmed from an alleged incident on Wednesday, where Browne was accused of stealing $80,000 in cash and a cellular phone valued at $50,000 from his mother, Shaundel Browne.

Browne appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at 10:10 hrs this morning, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges. However, during the court proceedings, the mother, who was the virtual complainant, opted not to provide evidence against her son. Consequently, the Magistrate dismissed the case.
