Fatal Shooting in Sophia Leaves Resident Dead

Authorities are probing a tragic incident that resulted in the death of Courtney Younge, a 56-year-old Labourer residing at Lot 643 ‘D’ Field Sophia. The incident occurred around 20:30hrs last night (Thursday) at Lot 636 ‘D’ Field Sophia, where an unidentified male, armed with a shotgun, allegedly committed the murder.

According to Vincent Cozier, a 57-year-old Driver residing in the same area, he was working on constructing a house at Lot 636 ‘D’ Field Sophia, with Younge employed as a Labourer. Cozier recounted that at approximately 19:00 hrs yesterday evening, Younge visited him at the work site, and the two began consuming alcohol.

As the evening progressed, Cozier and Younge were seated in the yard, with Younge positioned on two concrete blocks facing North, and Cozier on a nearby concrete block. At around 20:30 hrs, their gathering was interrupted by the arrival of the suspect on a pedal cycle. The suspect approached the yard, brandishing what appeared to be a shotgun.

Upon entering the yard, the suspect targeted Younge, pointing the firearm in his direction and firing a round, which fatally wounded him. Following the shooting, the suspect swiftly fled the scene, mounting his pedal cycle and riding off in a western direction along the street.

Younge succumbed to his injuries, and his body has been transported to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it awaits a Post-Mortem Examination. Meanwhile, law enforcement authorities are actively pursuing the suspect as investigations into the tragic incident continue. The community is urged to come forward with any relevant information that may aid in apprehending the perpetrator and bringing justice to the victim and his family.
