The ordeal began on February 10 when the deer was first spotted, but attempts to catch it were unsuccessful. Despite efforts by troopers and deputies, the deer remained elusive.
Days passed without any sightings of the deer, leading to concerns about its well-being. However, on Thursday, February 22, a deputy conducting routine patrols spotted the deer once again.
To everyone’s relief, it was discovered that the deer had managed to break through the bottom of the container, allowing it to eat and drink. Despite its resourcefulness, the container still posed a danger to the animal.
Deputies swiftly sprang into action, working together to corner the deer and carefully remove the container from its head.
The Vermillion County Sheriff’s Office shared images of the successful rescue on social media, bringing a heartwarming conclusion to a harrowing ordeal for the deer.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of proper disposal of plastic containers to prevent harm to wildlife.
