Tragic Incident Claims Life of 44 Year Old Worker at Sand Hills Mining Site

In a devastating incident on Saturday afternoon, a 44-year-old man, identified as Gary Prince and a father of two, lost his life after being crushed by a tree uprooted by an excavator operator at a mining site in Sand Hills, Puruni backdam, Region Seven.

The unfortunate incident occurred around 17:00hrs on Saturday, as Prince was working in close proximity to an excavator. The operator of the machine uprooted a tree, which tragically fell on Prince, causing fatal injuries. According to reports, he succumbed to head and facial injuries at the scene.

Gary Prince was employed by a miner known as ‘Indira’ at the time of the incident.

The grief-stricken mother of the deceased recounted that she learned of the tragedy on Saturday. Prince’s mother revealed that she travelled to the town of Bartica on Sunday, where she awaits the arrival of her son’s body, being transported out of the mining area by the police.
