Technician robbed of motorcycle in South Ruimveldt

Police are on the hunt for two bandits who robbed a technician at gunpoint on Friday night in South Ruimveldt, Georgetown.

The robbery occurred around 22:30 hrs as Jonathan Baker, 23, was about to ride into his Congress Drive, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown yard.

In a statement, Police Headquarters said Baker was entering his yard on his XR motorcycle when he was confronted by the bandits.

One of the men was armed with a handgun.

According to the statement, the pillion rider whipped out the gun and demanded that Baker hand over his motorcycle.

However, Baker put up a resistance which caused the suspect to discharge a round in his direction.

Baker’s fingers on his left hand were injured.

The suspects then took possession of the motorcycle and escaped in a northern direction.

Baker went to the St. Joseph Mercy hospital, where he was admitted in a stable condition.

Police said CCTV cameras were seen in the area and they will be reviewed.

Efforts are being made to locate the suspects.
