Teachers among four dead in highway accident; fifth person critical in hospital

Four persons died and several others were injured after the vehicles they were travelling in collided in the vicinity of Long Creek on the Linden/Soesdyke highway on Monday.

Dead are Dwalon Farrell, a teacher attached to the New Silvercity Secondary School; Rushell Leacock, also a teacher of the Kwakwani Primary School; pensioner, Urani Hall and Eddo Leacock, all residents of Region Ten.

Eddo is the brother of Rushell.

The scene of the accident

The name of the fourth victim remains unknown but he is said to be the brother of Leocock.

Meanwhile, Asheer Grannum is said to be critical in hospital.

Traffic Chief Mahendra Singh told the News Room that investigators are still at the scene as they try to ascertain the circumstances which resulted in the accident.

The News Room understands that the accident occurred during the early hours of Monday.

Two vehicles, which were badly damaged were involved in the accident. They reportedly collided with each other.
