Tragedy struck at Dazzel Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara, as Ashanti Liverpool was fatally shot. The assailant, identified as Stephan Hope, the former partner of Ashanti’s twin sister—who is a security guard—is currently hospitalized under police guard after attempting to take his own life at Ogle.
The incident unfolded when the assailant forcibly entered Ashanti’s residence in search of her twin, his former partner. However, finding her absent, he turned his aggression towards Ashanti, opening fire upon her. Despite Ashanti’s attempt to escape, she succumbed to her injuries approximately 500 feet from her home.
The community remains in shock and mourning over the loss of Ashanti Liverpool. Meanwhile, the perpetrator, apprehended by law enforcement authorities following his attempted suicide, is receiving medical treatment under police supervision.
