President Irfaan Ali Hosts Dinner for Distinguished Guests at Guyana’s State House

Guyana’s State House was the venue for a prestigious dinner hosted by President Dr. Irfaan Ali in honor of former US President Bill Clinton, French Minister of the European Union and Foreign Affairs Stėphane Sėjournė, and a delegation from the Dominican Republic. The gathering, held last evening, underscored the significance of international collaboration in advancing the country’s economic development and growth, as emphasized by President Ali.

During the event, President Ali highlighted the timeliness of the visits, emphasizing their focus on Guyana’s economic aspirations. He lauded former President Clinton for his longstanding friendship with Guyana and his advocacy for biodiversity and forest conservation in combating climate change.

Former President Clinton, renowned as the 42nd President of the United States (1993-2001), was present in Guyana as the special guest of the Dominican Republic’s Chamber of Commerce Caribbean Forum, slated to commence today. His presence further solidified the close ties between the Dominican Republic and Guyana, particularly within the realm of economic cooperation.

President Ali also commended the Dominican Republic’s decision to host the forum in Guyana, recognizing its role in strengthening bilateral relations and fostering collaboration between the private sectors of both nations.

The dinner at State House saw the participation of prominent figures, including Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d) the Honourable Mark Phillips, Vice President the Honourable Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, and other Government Ministers. Additionally, private sector leaders and esteemed diplomats, such as US Ambassador HE Nicole Theriot, EU Ambassador HE Rene Van Nes, and British High Commissioner HE Jane Miller, graced the occasion with their presence, highlighting the collective commitment to advancing mutual interests and cooperation on regional and global fronts.
