Police ranks injured in Timehri accident

A group of officers were injured after a Police minibus they were travelling in was involved in an accident on the Timehri, East Bank Demerara Public Road on Saturday night.

The accident occurred around 19:35hrs.

At the time, the minibus, bearing registration number PAE 6755, was driven by a Police rank. It was occupied by several others.

Police Headquarters in a brief statement said the minibus was heading to Georgetown when it struck a concrete median on the road.

This caused the driver to lose control and he collided with an electricity pole.

The driver and the occupants of the minibus were injured. They were taken for medical attention by bystanders.

While some of the ranks were treated and sent away, others were admitted at a city hospital for further medical attention.

Investigations are ongoing.
