In a targeted operation early Friday morning, police in Region 10 discovered a cache of illegal items, including marijuana, a firearm, ammunition, and a camouflage shirt, during raid exercises in Half Mile, Wismar, Linden.

According to a statement from Police Headquarters, the operation commenced at approximately 06:00 hrs when a team of police officers conducted a search at the residence of a 39-year-old man in Half Mile. During the search, authorities found a plastic bag containing marijuana on a dining table inside the home. The man was promptly informed of the offence, cautioned, and subsequently arrested.

Shortly thereafter, around 06:30 hrs, the police team proceeded to another residence in the area, where they encountered two 28-year-old men. Upon entering the premises, officers observed one of the men attempting to discard an object through a window. The object was swiftly recovered and identified as a loaded 9MM firearm.

Further search of the residence led to the discovery of a camouflage (GDF) shirt in a bedroom occupied by the second suspect. Consequently, both men were placed under arrest.

The marijuana seized from the first suspect was weighed in his presence at the Wismar Police Station, amounting to 18 grams. Meanwhile, the firearm, ammunition, and camouflage shirt were lodged at the Mackenzie Police Station.

All three suspects remain in police custody pending formal charges.
