Police Investigate Burglary and Shooting Incident in Samatta Point, Grove Housing Scheme

The Guyana Police Force is currently investigating an alleged burglary that occurred at the dwelling house of Dion Thompson, a 55-year-old Chef of Samatta Point, Grove Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara. The incident took place between 21:00 hrs last night and 04:30 hrs this morning.
According to the preliminary investigation, Dion Thompson reported that at around 04:30 hrs, she was awakened by a noise coming from inside her home. Upon investigation, she discovered two suspects, identified as Patrick McRae, 22, from Kaneville, East Bank Demerara, and Antwan Sampson, 19, also from Kaneville, EBD, inside her residence.
Thompson immediately raised an alarm, prompting a swift response from nearby Police ranks on motor vehicle patrol. The suspects attempted to escape through a window, and during the pursuit, Patrick McRae was shot by the Police, while Antwan Sampson managed to evade capture.
The stolen articles, including a music set (four speaker boxes) and remote control system valued at $100,000, along with a Samsung cellphone valued at $70,000, were recovered at the scene. Patrick McRae, who sustained a gunshot injury to his shoulder, was apprehended and subsequently admitted to Diamond Diagnostic Center for medical attention. He was later transferred to Georgetown Public Hospital, where he remains a patient under police guard.
The Police are actively searching for the fugitive, Antwan Sampson. The investigation is ongoing, and the recovered spent shells will be subjected to forensic analysis.
The Guyana Police Force urges anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Antwan Sampson to come forward and assist in the investigation. All information will be treated with the strictest confidence.
