Forty-year-old Rooplall Haindarsan died on Sunday after he reportedly ran into the path of a truck on the Enmore Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
The accident occurred around 19:50hrs.
Police Headquarters, in a statement, said inquiries disclosed that motor lorry, GTT 4579, was heading west along the road.
The driver, a 37-year-old resident of Agriculture Road, Mon Repos, ECD alleged that Haindarsan ran across the road and into the path of the truck.
As a result of the collision, Haindarsan, a resident of Logwood Enmore, ECD fell onto the road’s surface and received injuries on his body.
Haindarsan was picked up in an unconscious condition and escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital. He was pronounced dead.
The truck driver is currently in custody. The vehicle was lodged to be examined.
