A 27-year-old resident of Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD), was Thursday arrested after Police found about 6,100 grammes (or about 13.4 pounds) of marijuana at a building in Eccles, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
Police Headquarters reported that ranks went to the property at Eccles, Old Road at about 13:00 hrs and the 27-year-old, a vendor, was contacted and informed of the reason for the Police presence.
The ranks then requested to carry out a search on the premises and he agreed.
A transparent bulky plastic bag containing leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis was found in a bucket in one of the bedrooms; $15,300 cash was also found.
The 27-year-old man was cautioned, arrested and escorted to the Divisional Headquarters along with the suspected narcotics, which weighed in his presence and amounted to 6,100 grammes.
The man remains in custody as investigations continue.
