Tragedy struck Perry Street in Tucville, Georgetown, early Friday morning when a confrontation between a mother, her two sons, and two men turned deadly, resulting in the fatal stabbing of one of the men.
The victim, identified as Amaziah Hohenkirk, a 36-year-old labourer from Unity Place, Festival City, met his untimely demise after being stabbed by Alicia Edmonson, a 42-year-old housewife residing on Perry Street, Tucville.
According to reports from Police Headquarters, the altercation began on Thursday night but escalated dramatically around 07:00 hrs Friday morning. The genesis of the dispute reportedly stemmed from a disagreement over a damaged speaker box between Alicia, her son Darrel Kennedy (24 years old), and Hohenkirk.
The situation intensified further when, at approximately 6:50 hrs on Friday, Alicia informed her other son, Malkchi Kennedy (21 years old), that Darrel had mistreated her. Seeking resolution, Malkchi set out to confront Darrel, but instead encountered Hohenkirk and another man named Sean.
A heated argument ensued, eventually culminating in the group’s arrival at Alicia’s residence. During the confrontation, Sean allegedly struck Alicia on her left wrist with a hockey stick. In response, Alicia armed herself with a knife and stabbed Hohenkirk once in the abdomen and once on his left and right wrists.
Following the altercation, Hohenkirk and Sean fled the scene, seeking medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC). Tragically, Hohenkirk succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
