Days after he allegedly robbed a Berbice rice farmer, a 28-year-old labourer was on Friday placed on $200,000 bail; he denied committing the crime.
Malkumar Bhopaul, a resident of Besty Ground Village, East Canje Berbice appeared before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh at the Reliance Magistrate’s Court.
He was charged with robbery under arms committed on Sasnarine Somwaru, also of Besty Ground Village, East Canje, Berbice on May 14.
The charge was laid under Section 222(c) of the Criminal Law (Offenses) Act Chapter 8:01.
Bhopaul pleaded not guilty to the charge and bail was granted.
The matter was adjourned to July 27, 2024.
