The prestigious ICC Men’s T20 World Cup trophy touched down in Guyana on Tuesday, marking the final stop on its decorated tour.
The iconic trophy arrived at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) in Timehri, escorted by Damon Leon, the ICC T20 World Cup’s Head of Public Relations and Communications.
A celebratory atmosphere filled the arrival lounge, with a vibrant welcome reception hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sport.
Traditional drumming and dance performances added to the festivity, as excited fans and airport staff lined up for coveted photo opportunities with the coveted silverware.
The trophy’s itinerary for the coming days is packed. Today, it takes center stage at the State House, where the First Lady will host a special event for children from orphanages and those with differently-abled.

Next, a breathtaking journey awaits as the trophy embarks on a trip to the majestic Kaieteur Falls accompanied by the tournament ambassadors.
On Thursday, the President and members of his cabinet will get a chance to view the trophy, followed by two public engagements.
School children can meet their cricketing heroes and get up close with the trophy at the first event held at St. George’s Cathedral starting at 13:00h. Later in the day, a massive fan event kicks off at the Kingston Seawall Esplanade at 17:00h, offering fans the chance to win tickets and celebrate the upcoming tournament.
Guyana is gearing up to be a spectacular host for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which is co-hosted by the United States and the West Indies.
The country is excited to showcase its unique culture and warm hospitality as it prepares to welcome the world for the group matches scheduled from June 2nd to 8th, culminating with the second semi-final on June 27th.
Notably, Guyana will also host the second match of the entire tournament, the first for the West Indies team, on June 2nd.
The excitement is building for the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which runs from June 1st to 29th.
