This afternoon, around 17:00 hrs, officers from the Mackenzie Police Station responded to a tip-off and proceeded to the rear of Mackenzie Market in Mackenzie, Guyana. The information indicated that garbage and discarded old freezers were illegally dumped in the area.
Upon arrival, the officers conducted a thorough search of one of the abandoned freezers. To their surprise, they discovered two suspected firearms concealed inside. The firearms were carefully wrapped in a T-shirt, which was further encased in a plastic bag.
The officers promptly photographed the firearms and then safely removed them for closer examination. One of the firearms appeared to be a .32 revolver, although its serial number could not be identified. The second firearm resembled a .22 semi-automatic pistol.
As the investigation progresses, law enforcement authorities are diligently working to determine the origin of the firearms and any potential connections to criminal activities. The discovery underscores the ongoing efforts to combat illegal firearms possession and trafficking within the region.
Further updates on the investigation will be provided as additional information becomes available.
