Baba Charged for Possession of Narcotic in Good Hope

Kumar Persaud, commonly known as ‘Baba,’ a 22-year-old Mason residing in Squatting Dam (Phase 2), Good Hope, East Coast Demerara, was apprehended by the Cove and John Police Station on January 7, 2024. Today, he was formally charged with the offence of Possession of Narcotic for the Purpose of Trafficking, specifically 43.2 grams of Cannabis.
The arrest followed an operation where Persaud was found in possession of the illicit substance with an estimated street value of $35,000.
At 10:00 hrs this morning, the defendant appeared at the Cove and John Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Fabayo Azore. The charge was read to him, to which he entered a plea of not guilty. Bail was subsequently granted in the sum of $35,000.
The court has adjourned the matter to April 25, 2024, for further legal proceedings.
