Arrest Made in La Belle Alliance Tragedy.

In the wake of the tragic incident that unfolded in La Belle Alliance on Sunday night, where 25-year-old Ricardo John lost his life, swift action by the Essequibo Police has resulted in the apprehension of the suspect.
The suspect, identified as Elroy Matthias, allegedly fatally chopped Ricardo John during an altercation in the vicinity of Lima Sand on the Essequibo Coast. Matthias, who is reported to be the husband of John’s ex-girlfriend, will be formally charged with murder and presented before the Courts.
The victim, Ricardo John, a labourer from Lot 42 La Belle Alliance, Lima Sands, Essequibo Coast, was rushed to the Suddie Public Hospital in an unconscious state after sustaining severe injuries. Despite medical efforts, he tragically succumbed to his injuries.
The incident occurred on Sunday around 11:30 hrs in the vicinity of Lima Sands/Richmond access road. Reports suggest that an argument ensued between the victim and the suspect, leading to the fatal attack with a cutlass.
Ricardo John and the suspect’s wife had a history of acquaintance, having known each other for some years and previously been in a relationship. The investigation is ongoing to determine the full extent of the circumstances leading to this tragic event.
The Guyana Police Force expresses its commitment to ensuring justice in this case and extends condolences to the family and friends of Ricardo John.
