A Cobb County grand jury recently issued indictments against Anilus and Rosnie Frederic, residents of Dallas, on charges related to the theft and disposal of a child’s ashes. According to the warrants, the Frederics allegedly removed the small gold and black urn from a teddy bear belonging to Carla Watson on January 25, 2023, while they were employed at Kennestone Hospital. After taking the urn home, they purportedly disposed of the remains in an unknown manner.

Initially charged with theft by taking and abandonment of a dead body, the Frederics now face more serious charges, including malicious removal of a dead body from a grave, removal of a dead body from a grave, and abandonment of a dead body, all of which are felonies.

Following their arrest in April, both individuals were detained at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. After posting a bond of $8,470 each, they were released.

The indictments were handed down by a Cobb County grand jury on Tuesday, February 13, in Cobb Superior Court, with Judge Henry Thompson presiding over the proceedings.

This development underscores the gravity of the allegations and the legal consequences the Frederics may face if found guilty. The case highlights the importance of respecting the sanctity of human remains and the trust placed in individuals working in sensitive positions within healthcare facilities.
