Alert Brazilian Man Wanted for Murder Rupununi Residents Urged to Stay Vigilant

Residents of the Rupununi region are urged to remain vigilant as authorities intensify efforts to locate a Brazilian man wanted for the murder of his ex-wife and an attempted murder of his daughter in Bomfin, Brazil, last night.

The assailant allegedly shot his ex-wife to death in Bomfin and subsequently turned his gun towards his young daughter. Quick intervention by the child’s grandmother and others at the scene deterred further harm, forcing the suspect to flee. As of now, the fugitive is on the run and considered armed.

Jr Grant, a local businessman in Lethem, emphasizes the need for heightened awareness among citizens in Lethem and surrounding areas. Given the close proximity of Lethem to the Brazilian border, Grant warns that the suspect may attempt to cross into Guyana to evade law enforcement in Brazil.

Grant further notes that Brazilian Police presence has increased in Bomfin and the surrounding areas, extending to routes leading to locations like the road to Boa Vista and the Venezuelan border. The heightened surveillance raises concerns that the suspect might attempt to cross into Guyana.

Citizens are strongly advised to report any sightings or information related to the suspect to the Police immediately. There is a possibility that the fugitive is still armed and dangerous.
