Accident Update Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Married Couple in Ruimveldt

In a recent report highlighted by Kaiteur news, It is with deep sadness that we report a fatal accident that occurred at dawn on Monday in Ruimveldt, Georgetown, resulting in the untimely demise of minibus driver Rawle McKenzie, 54, and his wife Sarah Wilson, 51, who had celebrated their marriage last year.
Pream Seecharran, 29, of Belle Vue, West Bank Demerara, was driving a motorcar (P A D 2018) when McKenzie’s minibus (B H H 8451) and the accident occurred at around 05:23 on Monday morning.
Preliminary investigations conducted by the police revealed that the motorcar was proceeding south on the eastern lane of Ruimveldt Public Road at a reportedly high rate of speed. Near ‘Top Point Store,’ while negotiating a slight bend, the driver lost control, and the left side front of the motorcar collided with a pile of sand on the eastern side of the road. Subsequently, the car flipped several times onto the western carriageway, colliding with the front portion of McKenzie’s northbound minibus.
The impact of the collision caused severe injuries to both drivers and the passengers of the minibus. Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) promptly responded, transporting Wilson and Seecharran to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. Tragically, Wilson was pronounced dead on arrival. Subsequently, McKenzie, confirmed by relatives, succumbed to his injuries.
Seecharran’s condition remains critical, and the other occupants of the minibus received treatment for abrasions.
