Canu Operation Leads To Significant Cannabis Seizure And Arrest Of Two Suspects

In a successful operation conducted by the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) on January 15, 2024, officers targeted a residence in Block 1 Unity Hubu Parika, resulting in a significant discovery of suspected cannabis and the apprehension of two suspects.
During the operation, CANU officers executed a thorough search at the targeted residence, uncovering several large bags containing brick-like parcels of suspected cannabis. The two suspects present at the location, identified as Latchman Sankar, also known as Jack, 39 years old, residing at the mentioned address, and Sanya Ramrattan, aka Shena, 36 years old, from Sisters Village, W.B.D., were promptly arrested.
Latchman Sankar and Sanya Ramrattan were subsequently escorted to CANU’s Headquarters, accompanied by the suspected narcotics. Upon testing, the substance was confirmed to be cannabis, totaling one hundred and two (102) parcels with a combined weight of 55.2 kg. The estimated street value of the seized cannabis is approximately GUY $20 million.
