Donovan Douglas, 81, died on Saturday night following a collision with a car on the Eccles Public Road, East Bank Demerara.
Police Headquarters reported that Douglas was riding electric bike, EM 5436, while the car, PWW 3407, was driven by 18-year-old Sanjay Narine, a resident of Seaforth Street, Campbellville.
Douglas, of Stevedore Housing Scheme, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown was heading south along the western lane of the road.
The car was heading north, at a fast rate and collided with the electric bike.
As a result of the collision, Douglas was injured. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the car is currently in Police custody, assisting with the investigation.
