VETERAN ACTRESS DALYCE CURRY AMONG VICTIMS OF DEVASTATING LOS ANGELES WILDFIRES

Dalyce Curry, a 95-year-old actress known for her roles in classic films including The Blues Brothers, The Ten Commandments, and Lady Sings the Blues, has been confirmed deceased in the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires. Her remains were discovered Sunday at her Altadena home in the Eaton area, where she was trapped as the blaze engulfed her property.

Curry, affectionately known as “Momma D” to her family, was last seen Tuesday evening after returning home from a hospital visit. Her great-granddaughter, Dalyce Kelley, confirmed the tragic news after receiving notification from the coroner.

The actress’s death comes amid what California Governor Gavin Newsom has described as potentially the most costly natural disaster in U.S. history. The wildfires have claimed at least 24 lives and destroyed thousands of homes across Los Angeles. Weather officials warn that conditions may worsen, with Tuesday expected to bring particularly dangerous wind conditions that could further complicate firefighting efforts.

“It was total devastation,” Kelley reported upon visiting the property with National Guard escort. The fire destroyed nearly everything except Curry’s blue Cadillac, which now stands as a stark reminder of the disaster’s impact.

The National Weather Service has issued warnings about “very critical fire weather conditions” in the coming days, with strong Santa Ana winds expected to create additional challenges for emergency responders.

Governor Newsom has issued an executive order to expedite rebuilding efforts for affected communities, emphasizing the urgent need to support displaced residents and restore damaged infrastructure.
