In a shocking Tragic Stabbing Incident, a 70-year-old Guyanese man named Raymond Daniels brutally stabbed a 41-year-old Venezuelan woman named Maria Pinango, who is now fighting for her life at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC). The incident occurred on Friday between 15:00 and 16:00 hours in front of Demico House, located at Brickdam, Strabroek, Georgetown.

Maria Pinango, who has been residing in Guyana for the past four years, is currently in critical condition after undergoing emergency surgery at GPHC. The victim, a mother of five children with her youngest child aged 7, was allegedly attacked by Daniels, who had expressed a desire to marry her.

According to Marquelis Pierre, the victim’s daughter, Daniels was known to the family and had been a friend of Pinango. However, Daniels reportedly wanted to elevate their relationship to a romantic one and had persistently expressed his desire to marry her. The situation took a dark turn when Pinango declined the proposal, citing her existing relationship.

Daniels, allegedly consumed by jealousy, exhibited aggressive behavior whenever Pinango interacted with other males. On the day of the incident, Pinango had gone to Georgetown and met a friend who informed her that Daniels was nearby. Despite this warning, Pinango joined her friends in front of the Demico House.

Daniels approached Pinango, held onto her hands, and reportedly threatened to kill her. Despite her attempts to deescalate the situation, Daniels became more aggressive. Daniels attacked Pinango when she attempted to leave the argument. She took a knife out of her bag and stabbed her numerous times, including in the back and chest.

The victim was swiftly rushed to GPHC in an unconscious state, where she underwent emergency surgery. As she remains in critical condition, Pinango’s family is calling for justice and urging the Guyana Police Force to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
