Tragic Accident Claims Life of Mother of Three in Georgetown

In a devastating incident last evening, Martha Nina Williams, a 36-year-old mother of three, lost her life after being crushed by a hauler truck at the intersection of High and Princes Streets in Georgetown.
Originally from Phillipai in Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) and residing in Blankenburg, West Coast Demerara, Williams had been socializing with friends at a bar on Princes Street prior to the accident.
Around 10:30 pm, Williams left the bar to head home. Tragically, as she was crossing High Street to reach the bus park, a truck reportedly traveling at high speed struck her.
The impact was fatal, resulting in Williams’s body being split in half. Emergency Medical Technicians pronounced her dead at the scene.
The driver of the truck, a 24-year-old man from Coconut Walk, Unity, East Coast Demerara, is currently in police custody, cooperating with the ongoing investigations.
Williams was employed as a security personnel at RK Security Firm, where she had recently been promoted to a supervisory position.
