In observance of Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, Team Mohamed’s, a prominent supporter of health initiatives, is set to sponsor Pap smear tests for 100 women aged 21 and above. This charitable endeavor is a collaboration with the Cancer Institute of Guyana, located in the compound of the Georgetown Public Hospital, East and Lamaha Streets.
The Pap smear tests will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, commencing from Monday, January 15, 2024. Women interested in availing themselves of this health initiative are encouraged to contact the Cancer Institute of Guyana by dialing 225-5701 or 225-5703, or via WhatsApp at 648-8727.
Undergoing a Pap smear is crucial in increasing the likelihood of curing cervical cancer when detected early. It also aids in identifying precancerous alterations in cervical cells, potentially preventing the onset of cancer.
The sponsorship cheque for this initiative was formally handed over to Dr. Lina Marquez and Monette Harry of the Cancer Institute of Guyana, symbolizing Team Mohamed’s commitment to supporting women’s health.
In a parallel effort to bolster awareness, Team Mohamed’s is honored to endorse the second annual cervical cancer awareness march scheduled for Sunday, January 21, 2024, in Bartica, Region Seven. This event, spearheaded by cancer warrior Davina Woolward of Byderabo village, has garnered the support of the Bartica Mayor and City Council and the Bartica Regional Hospital.
The march aims to champion the importance of early screening and detection by raising public awareness. Participants are invited to gather for the awareness march at 17:00h at the Cenotaph Square. The event is open to everyone who wishes to show their support for this crucial health cause.
