A 29-year-old Berbice man was killed Sunday night when a speeding pickup crashed into him.
Dead is Deonarine Budhram of Rose Hall Town Berbice.
He was walking along John’s Public Road on the Corentyne Coast when the pickup, bearing registration number 4363, ran into him.
The impact caused Deonarine to be flung into a nearby bus shed.
The pick-up ended up in a nearby drain and the driver immediately fled the scene.
The Police are yet to determine the identity of the driver.
Deonarine was picked up in an unconscious state by a public-spirited citizen and taken to Port Mourant Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.
Efforts are being made to identify and arrest the driver.
