Slingerz FC suffered a setback in their KFC Elite League title aspirations, settling for a 1-1 draw against Den Amstel FC. This result allowed defending champions Guyana Defence Force FC (GDF FC) to extend their lead at the top.
In the night’s other fixture, Guyana Police Force FC cruised to a 3-0 victory over Monedderlust FC on July 25.
Andrew Murray opened the scoring for Slingerz from the penalty spot, but Delano Mentore’s equalizer denied them all three points. The draw marked Slingerz’s third stalemate of the season.
GDF FC, meanwhile, continues to dominate the league with a near-perfect record. Their 40 points from 13 wins and a draw puts them in a strong position to retain their title. Slingerz FC remains in second with 37 points.
