Guyana’s top female badminton player Priyanna Ramdhani is within touching distance of making the finals of three categories at the ongoing Suriname International Badminton tournament 2024.
Playing at the Ring Sports Centre, Ramdhani, along with Akili Haynes in the Mixed Doubles, is leading Guyana’s charge at the event.

- Priyanna Ramdhani has advanced to the semi-finals in three categories: Women’s Singles, Mixed Doubles with Akili Haynes, and Women’s Doubles alongside Chequeda De Boulet from Trinidad. In the Women’s Singles, she secured a decisive victory over Trinidad’s Amara Urquhart (21-9, 21-14).
- Akili Haynes demonstrated his prowess in the Men’s Singles, defeating Al-Hassan Somedjo of Suriname (21-19, 21-15) to reach the Round-of-16, where he fell to Peru’s Adrian Viale
- Guyana’s Nkosi Beaton, Frank Waddell and Joanathan Debidin, in their debut senior tournament overseas, were unable to advance past the qualifying rounds in Men’s Singles.
- In the Men’s Doubles, Akili Haynes and Nkosi Beaton faced tough competition, losing to Suriname’s second-seeded pair, Diego Dos Ramos and Al-Hassan Somedjo (21-16, 21-13). Frank Waddell and Joanathan Debidin also lost to Daniel and Terrence Li (21-12, 21-17).
