Pooran, Powell and Rutherford tee off as West Indies beat Australia

Nicholas Pooran, Rovman Powell and Sherfane Rutherford warmed up for the ICC Men’s World T20 with some scintillating hitting on Thursday evening as West Indies defeated Australia in a high-scoring warm-up game.

The trio combined for 16 sixes as West Indies posted 257-4 and then restricted the Aussies to 222-7 at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad.

Pooran smashed eight sixes and five fours in a belligerent 75 off 25, Powell blasted 52 off 25 with four sixes and similar number of fours, and Rutherford raced to 47 not out off 18 with four sixes and four fours.

All told, the match produced a total of 479 runs with 31 sixes and 46 fours.
