Police Sergeant Renaldo Brumel died on Saturday morning following an accident on the Montrose Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
The accident at around 12:30 a.m..
Police Headquarters said Brumel,25, was riding a black Honda motorcycle bearing registration number CM 9530.
According to a Police report, motorcar, PNN 3100 was heading east on the public road when the driver, Ravin Singh, a 27-year-old resident of Montrose, ECD, made a ‘U-Turn’ west.
During the process, he collided with Brumell who on the southern carriageway of the said road.
As a result of the collision, Brumell fell onto the road surface and received injuries on his body.
Brumel was picked up in an unconscious state by public-spirited citizens, placed in a Force vehicle and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police said the driver is in custody, assisting with the investigation.
Sergeant Brumell was stationed at Traffic Headquarters and was attached to the Commissioner of Police’s Secretariat.
