Regional Divisional Commander # 4B, Superintendent Krishna Ramana, continues to fulfil the Guyana Police Force’s mandate to forge community partnerships. On Tuesday, at Diamond Headquarters, he donated the winning trophy for the upcoming Independence Football Tournament to be held in Mocha-Arcadia, East Bank Demerara from Thursday, May 23 to May 26, 2024.
Additionally, Deputy Superintendent Wayne DeHearte donated the Most Valuable Player trophy. Also present at the handover ceremony was Chief Inspector Mark Lyte.
The Independence tournament aims to restore community togetherness; minimise young, gifted athletes’ idleness, and build partnerships between the Police and youths of all communities through sports to foster a safer and more secure Guyana.
The three-day event, which utilises a direct-elimination format, will feature 24 teams from various communities and regions battling for over $400,000 in prizes.
The event is also sponsored by Alberttown Police Station, Reliable Graphics Design, Ballers Ent, Panther Security, Secure Innovations and Concept, Mantra Restaurant and Bar, and Mocha Arcadia Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC).
