Norman Emanuel Vieira called ‘Peter’ was found dead in his Cummings Park, East Coast Demerara house on Thursday afternoon.
Police Headquarters reported that Vieira, a 73-year-old pensioner, lived alone in a two-bedroom wooden structure. He had no known relatives and was a patient of the cardiology clinic of the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The pensioner was last seen by a neighbour at about 19:00 hrs Wednesday. On Thursday afternoon, while in her yard, the same neighbour smelt a foul stench emanating from Vieira’s house. So she went to check the premises.
When the neighbour got there, she reportedly found the man lying motion in his house. As such, she called the 911 Police emergency line.
Upon arrival, Police saw the man lying motionless on his bed in one of the bedrooms of his house. He was clad in brown and white striped boxers.
No marks of violence were found when the body was examined. The Emergency Medical Technicians were later summoned and the body was pronounced dead by a doctor.
Police said the body is presently lying at Sandy’s Funeral Parlor awaiting post-mortem examination.
