  • by

The Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Bodybuilding Championships are approaching, set to take place in Guyana from October 19th to 20th at the National Cultural Centre.

Keavon Bess, the President of the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, announced during a recent press briefing that all preparations are complete.

The event is expected to attract over 150 athletes representing 20 countries, making it a significant gathering for the region’s bodybuilding community.

This championship is notable for offering 14 prestigious International Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation (IFBB) pro-cards, a coveted status that athletes achieve by winning the overall segment in their category.

The competition promises to bring together the “best of the best,” ensuring a high level of performance and rivalry.

Among the athletes, two Guyanese competitors, Emmerson Campbell in the Men’s Physique category and Julio Sinclair in Bodybuilding, are carrying high expectations.

They are both aiming to achieve pro-card status, which would mark a significant milestone in their careers. Their success would stand out given the strong field of competitors they face.

Guyana is ambitiously aiming to claim the overall titles in both Men’s Physique and Bodybuilding. Keavon Bess has expressed confidence in achieving this goal and has called on local patrons to support the Guyanese athletes. He anticipates a highly competitive championship and emphasizes the importance of community backing.

The event is supported by various sponsors, including Twins Manufacturing, Fitness Express, Camille Academy, Jims Variety Store, Bounty Farms Limited, and the Guyana Olympic Association. This support underscores the significance of the event and its impact on promoting fitness and bodybuilding in the region.

Tickets for the event are priced at G$2,000 and are available at the National Cultural Centre Box Office. The schedule includes a weigh-in on Friday, with some finals taking place on Saturday. The majority of the finals, however, will occur on Sunday, starting at 10:30h, ensuring an action-packed weekend for attendees.

The list of participating countries is diverse, featuring Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Bonaire, Curacao, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Saint Lucia, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, Colombia, Jamaica, Sint Maarten, Haiti, Nicaragua, Mexico, Costa Rica, St. Vincent, and Guyana.
