In a distressing incident in number 72 village, Corentyne, East Berbice, a mother named Ashley Mohamed, also known as Ashley and Tina, is accused of abandoning her two daughters, aged 5 and 2, with their sickly grandmother.
According to a concerned relative, Ashley visited her mother-in-law’s residence on Friday at approximately 2 pm. Allegedly, she informed her sickly mother-in-law that she was going to the shop and would return shortly. However, Ashley did not come back, leaving both children in the care of their grandmother.
The situation escalated when Ashley’s phone was turned off just minutes after she left. Her mother-in-law, a cancer survivor who is reportedly in fragile health, attempted to contact her to ask for a simple errand, but Ashley’s phone was unreachable.
Distressed by the turn of events, relatives reported the incident to the Springlands Police Station. The grandmother, already dealing with the trauma of the situation, fell ill on Saturday and has been hospitalized.
The family is deeply concerned about the well-being of the children, especially the older girl who reportedly struggles in her mother’s absence. The whereabouts of the father remain unknown.
An appeal has been made to the public to contact the nearest police station or call 625 9051 with any information about Ashley Mohamed’s whereabouts. The search intensifies as the family seeks to ensure the safety and care of the two young girls.
