Mahaica Resident Remanded for Narcotics Offences
Nigel Ishmael, a 53-year-old resident of Unity Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, found himself in legal trouble after being arrested on January 6, 2024. Following thorough investigations, he was charged yesterday by the Mahaica Police Station with two counts of Possession of Narcotics for the Purpose of Trafficking.
The charges come as a result of a law enforcement operation targeting the possession and distribution of narcotics.
On his appearance at the Cove and John Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Fabayo Azore, Ishmael pleaded not guilty to both counts. However, due to the nature of the charges, he was remanded to prison until February 6, 2024, when further legal proceedings are scheduled to take place.
The arrest and subsequent charges highlight the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat drug-related activities within the community and uphold the rule of law.
