Mark Chester, a 29-year-old labourer from Queenstown Village, Essequibo Coast, found himself facing serious charges when he appeared before Magistrate Tamieka Clarke at the Suddie Magistrates’ Court.
Chester stands accused of attempting to take the life of Marlon Jones, aged 45, also a resident of Queenstown Village. The incident allegedly occurred on Friday, prompting Chester’s arrest and subsequent court appearance.
During his initial court appearance, Chester was formally charged under Section 103 (c) of the Criminal Law Offences Act, Chapter 8:01, with attempted murder. As is customary, he was not required to enter a plea at this stage.
The prosecution raised objections to Chester being granted bail, citing the seriousness of the charge. Consequently, the magistrate ordered Chester to be remanded to prison pending further legal proceedings.
