At 5:25 hrs today, firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) from the Eccles and Alberttown fire stations rushed to the scene of a distressing accident in front of the Ruimveldt Police Station, Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
The collision involved two vehicles, specifically a Blue Toyota Hiace RZ Minibus with registration number BHH8451 and a Honda Vezel with registration number PAD2018. The Blue Toyota Hiace RZ Minibus, owned and driven by Raul McKenzie of Lot 269 Somatta Point, Grove, East Bank Demerara, collided with the Honda Vezel, owned by Ryan Seechanna of Lot 138 Bellevue West Bank Demerara and driven by 29-year-old Romel Seechanna.
The impact of the accident resulted in the destruction of both vehicles and their contents. Both drivers, Raul McKenzie and Romel Seechanna, suffered broken limbs and became trapped in their vehicles, necessitating the intervention of firefighters to extricate them.
Emergency Medical Technicians on the scene examined and provided immediate care to the injured parties. Three passengers of the minibus, including a 5-year-old boy and a 31-year-old man with minor injuries to their feet, were conveyed to the Georgetown Public Hospital. Additionally, a 50-year-old woman sustained serious injuries, including lacerations and deformity to her lower body.
