Fatal Stabbing Over Cell Phone Sparks Police Investigation.

A tragic incident unfolded last night in Haslington New Scheme, East Coast Demerara, resulting in the alleged murder of Otis Andey Haimchand, a 29-year-old Labourer from Nabaclis. The suspect, a 36-year-old Miner/Businessman from Haslington New Scheme, is currently on the run, prompting an intense search by law enforcement.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the deadly altercation stemmed from a dispute earlier in the day over a cellular phone between the suspect and the victim. The situation escalated later in the evening at around 21:00 hrs when another confrontation ensued. During the scuffle, Haimchand attempted to escape, but the suspect pursued and inflicted a stab wound to his upper left side chest.
Haimchand succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital. The body, showing signs of a chest wound in the region of the heart, was later transferred to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, awaiting a Post-Mortem Examination.
Authorities have questioned several individuals and gathered relevant information to aid in their investigation. Currently, efforts are focused on locating and apprehending the suspect, who fled the scene on foot.
The Guyana Police Force urges anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect to come forward and assist in their ongoing investigations.
