Farmer remanded for murder of health consultant

Forty-seven-year-old Sherwyn Elias, a farmer of Victoria Village, East Coast Demerara, was remanded to prison after being charged with the murder of Andre Wilson, a Ministry of Health consultant.

Elias appeared at the Cove and John Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate O. Schmidt where the charge was read to him. He was not required to enter a plea.

He was remanded to prison until November 3, 2024.

Police Headquarters reported that Wilson, also of Victoria Village, succumbed to stab wounds he received during an argument with Elias on October 24.

According to the Police report, Wilson known as “Puchie,” reportedly called the suspect a false name on the day of the incident. This led to the stabbing.

The incident occurred at Victoria South, ECD at about 17:00hrs.
