A shopkeeper of Dartmouth, Essequibo Coast is now in police custody after he was busted with a quantity of cannabis and cocaine by police ranks on Wednesday.
According to a statement from Police Headquarters, around 11:00 hrs, the ranks who were on mobile patrol, observed the man standing in front of his shop, acting in a suspicious manner.
As a result, they stopped the motor vehicle and approached the 47-year-old man and requested to conduct a search on his person, to which he agreed.
A bulky plastic bag containing six transparent plastic bags of cannabis and six transparent plastic bags containing cocaine were found in the man’s pants pocket.
He was told of the offense, cautioned, arrested, and escorted to the Anna Regina Police Station along with the cannabis and cocaine.
At the said station, the cannabis was weighed and amounted to 171.9 grams. The cocaine when weighed amounted to 148.2 grams. It was then marked, sealed, and lodged.
The suspect remains in custody.
Investigations are ongoing.
