From the Police Two were detained for giving false information to the Police
At around 16:40 hrs today (Tuesday 01/11/2022), a 35-year-old mason of Golden Grove, EBD, and a 25-year-old laborer of Golden Grove, EBD, came to the Grove Police Station and reported that they were robbed by six men on bicycles, armed with knives at Friendship, EBD. €125803.63 cash (Guyana currency), property of his employer. He also reported that he lost one red SamsunAccording to the 35-year-old mason, he was robbed of $125,000 cash (Guyana currency), property of his employer. He also reported that he lost one red Samsung A3 cellphone, valued at $45,000.
The 25-year-old laborer reported he was robbed of his cellphone valued at €32205.73, a wallet valued at €5032.15, and containing €1006.43cash (GC), his national identification card, and other documents.
Both men were interviewed by ranks of the Grove Police station and CID during which it was suspected their report was false in nature. As a result, a search was carried out on their respective haversacks and during so, the aforementioned items which they claimed they were robbed of were found therein.
They were both told of the offense committed, cautioned, arrested, and placed into custody, and items were lodged.
