Autopsy Reveals Cause of Death for Ashanti Liverpool Suspect Hospitalized

The tragic death of 24-year-old Ashanti Liverpool, who was fatally shot by her sister’s ex-boyfriend, has been further elucidated through an autopsy conducted on Wednesday. The examination, performed by government pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh at the Georgetown Public Hospital’s mortuary, revealed that Liverpool succumbed to a gunshot wound to her chest.

Identification of the body was confirmed by Ishanti Liverpool, Ashanti’s twin sister, after which the remains were released to family members for burial arrangements.

Meanwhile, the suspect in the case, identified as Stephan Hope, remains hospitalized at the Georgetown hospital in critical condition.

According to police reports, Hope, employed as a security guard, allegedly retrieved an AR-15 Rifle and eight live rounds of ammunition from a colleague at the Hong Kong Chinese Supermarket in Good Hope, East Coast Demerara.

The tragic events unfolded when Hope, reportedly fueled by jealousy, encountered Ashanti Liverpool at her sister’s residence. Finding her alone, he inquired about her sister’s whereabouts before opening fire, fatally injuring Ashanti. She attempted to flee but collapsed in a nearby yard.

Following the shooting, Hope fled the scene and subsequently visited another supermarket, the Hong Xing Supermarket at Industry Railway Embankment, where he acquired another AR-15 Rifle with ammunition. It is believed that he then turned the weapon on himself, resulting in his critical condition.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting renewed calls for increased vigilance and measures to address domestic violence and firearm-related incidents. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy as both families grapple with the aftermath of the senseless violence.
